There are plenty of factors to consider when booking long-range travel plans. While many airlines will take you where you want to go, the travel experience can vary widely when it comes to factors such as boarding processes, amenities and baggage allowances. After two years in the top spot, Delta Air Lines slipped to fourth place, behind new No. Despite losing its crown, Delta was still found to be the most reliable airline because of its low rate of cancellations, delays, mishandled luggage and denied boardings. The legacy carrier also ranked as one of the most comfortable airlines in terms of in-flight experience.

That's one reason why many Americans choose to leave the States and retire abroad. But not all international retirement destinations are created equal, especially if you're on a budget. Last month, International Living released its list of the 13 destinations where a couple can retire for as little as $1,500 a month. While the cities and towns are spread across the globe, some countries are especially affordable for retirees. Mexico had the most cities on the list, and five destinations were in Southeast Asia.

Creditnews Research, an independent research house, released its new ranking of the fastest-selling housing markets in the U.S. To do a pre-Covid versus 2024 comparison, the study used metrics from January 2020 to January 2024. Five of the top 10 fastest-selling metros were also among the top areas that lost the most per-capita housing inventory since the beginning of the pandemic. Florida had one of the strongest housing markets during the pandemic, according to CNBC's America's Top States for Business ranking, but not a single city in the state ranked in Creditnews Research's top 10. The cost of retirement in the U.S. varies from state to state, but can cost as much as $73,140 a year in a place like New York. It's one of the reasons many Americans consider retiring abroad where they can live on a lower income without sacrificing their quality of life.
